Here’s our review of the Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon meal delivery service—and our verdict on whether or not we think it’s worth trying out.
Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon Menu & Recipes
Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon offers more than 45 flavor-packed, chef-crafted recipes from five different categories every week: Health & Diet, Vegetarian & Vegan, Meat & Fish, Under 30 Minutes and Family-Friendly.
And while Martha Stewart’s involvement guarantees that every recipe tastes like it’s straight out of a celebrity chef’s kitchen, you won’t spend hours pulling them together. They’re all just six simple steps and many take fewer than 30 minutes to prepare. Plus, with a few exceptions (think pantry staples like oil, salt, pepper, sugar and eggs), the shipments include everything you need and all ingredients come pre-portioned, saving you both time and aggravation.
Here’s a look at the five different meal categories, and what you’ll get with each:
Meal Category | What's Included | Recipe Examples |
---|---|---|
Health and Diet | Delicious recipes that are fewer than 600 calories | Grilled Shrimp Caesar Salad with Homemade Garlicky Croutons; Sheet Pan Veggie Fajitas with Guacamole |
Vegetarian & Vegan | Meat-free meals with innovative and satisfying spins on fresh and seasonal produce | Spinach & Cheese Ravioli Limone with Mushrooms; Corn & Poblano Enchiladas with Pickled Onions |
Meat & Fish | Higher protein recipes featuring chicken, beef, pork and fish, to name a few. | Mustard-Glazed Salmon with Corn, Snap Peas & Tomatoes; Pan-Roasted Chicken & Caramelized Onions with Garlic-Knot Potatoes & Broccoli |
Under 30 Minutes | Mouthwatering meals that are ready in less than a half hour—a great choice for the busy crowd. | Sheet Pan Shrimp Tacos with Fresh Salsa & Sour Cream; Pan-Seared Tortelloni with Mint, Lemon & Asparagus |
Family Friendly | Rooted in flavors that tend to be popular among kids and adults alike. | Southwestern Veggie Flatbread; Bacon Skillet Meatloaf with Garlic Mash |
If you select a specific category and later want to change it, or if you want to customize your menu, you always have that opportunity. Every week, 10 days before your delivery day, you’ll receive an email listing the meal choices for that week. If you decide you’d like to swap recipes, you can simply log in to your account and update your menu. Every recipe is tagged with descriptors like “kid-friendly,” “low-carb,” “low calorie” and more, so you can make informed decisions when building your menu.
Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon Serving Sizes
Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon offers two plans, a couples plan and a family plan. With the couples plan, you get two servings per meal. The family plan includes four servings, making it ideal for a family of four.
With both plans, you can choose to receive anywhere from two to six recipes per week.
Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon Recipe Cards
Featuring six simple steps and lots of helpful photos, the recipe cards make it easy to create Martha-worthy masterpieces in about 30 minutes (some more, some less). Each recipe indicates the ingredients you will be using from your box, as well as the pantry staples and tools you’ll need to grab from your own kitchen. Allergens, nutritional composition, estimated cooking time and serving quantities are also included on each recipe card.
The Sustainability Factor
Marley Spoon’s global mission is “to bring delightful, market-fresh and easy cooking back to the people while building a sustainable supply chain for a waste-free world.”
Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon works closely with suppliers to reduce waste without compromising the quality and freshness of the food. Almost all of the packaging is made from recycled materials, and everything from the ice packs to the lining of the box can be recycled. Plus, they send you ingredients in the exact portions you need, eliminating food waste.
In 2020, the company achieved a significant sustainability milestone: Operating carbon neutral with 100 percent of company emissions offset. This means they calculate their carbon emissions and compensate for what they produce via carbon offsetting projects. To date, they’ve planted more than 44,000 trees in Venezuela and Uruguay, which absorb carbon from the atmosphere. They’ve also distributed 4,000 clean and efficient cookstoves to families who cook with open fire in Zambia. The cookstoves reduce the release of greenhouse gasses and aerosols.
Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon Delivery Options
With Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon, you get pre-portioned ingredients for Martha’s favorite recipes delivered to your door. They deliver to most of the contiguous U.S. states. You are able to choose from a variety of delivery days and times, and if you are traveling or simply want to skip a week, you can do so without penalty.
If you aren’t home when your box arrives, no need to worry about spoiled food—everything comes in a specially insulated box designed to keep the food cold and fresh. And they guarantee you’ll be able to use the ingredients for at least four days after you receive them with the exception of fish, which should be cooked within 48 hours of receipt.
Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon Costs
The price of your plan will depend upon a few factors, including whether you select the two- or the four-person option, and how many meals you choose to receive each week.
Regardless of the plan you choose, you will pay $8.99 in shipping on each delivery, which is one of the only downsides of this meal kit delivery service.

Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon vs. HelloFresh
Of Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon’s competitors, HelloFresh is one of the most similar. HelloFresh is a meal kit delivery service that sends six-step, 30-minute recipes and pre-portioned ingredients directly to your door. It offers similar options for serving sizes and meal quantities, and just like Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon, it gives customers the option to filter recipes and customize a menu according to various dietary preferences. The pricepoints are fairly comparable, and HelloFresh also prioritizes sustainability.
So what’s the difference between these two meal kit delivery plans? The recipe count, for one. HelloFresh offers about 25 per week while Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon offers more than 45. There’s also the fact that HelloFresh doesn’t have a meal-making mogul like Martha Stewart at the helm. This pretty much guarantees the meals will always be a cut above.
Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon vs. Blue Apron
Blue Apron dishes out some perks many other meal kit delivery services don’t—they have a wine delivery service, a ready-made line of meals, a pantry featuring condiments and extras you can tack on to your order, plus some WW-compliant recipes. Blue Apron is also fully non-GMO.
Compared to Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon, Blue Apron’s weekly recipe variety falls a little flat—the Signature (two person) plan offers 18 to 20 recipes to choose from each week; the Signature for Four plan includes eight to 10; the Wellness and Vegetarian plans include only three to four selections each week. So if you like a lot of variety or you have dietary restrictions, this meal kit may not be the best fit. Shipping is also slightly more expensive— $9.99 compared to $8.99 for Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon.
Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon vs. Home Chef
Like Marley Spoon, Home Chef dishes out a variety of serving size and meal quantity options, making it a good choice for singles, couples and families alike. And just like Marley Spoon, Home Chef lets customers customize their menu by indicating their dietary preferences. The recipe cards follow a similar format to the Martha Stweart & Marley Spoon cards, with the added benefit of including spice level.
One of the main differences between the two brands is the quantity of recipes offered—whereas Marley Spoon offers more than 45 recipes every week, Home Chef offers about 20. Home Chef also doesn’t offer a robust vegetarian menu—they offer one vegetarian option every other week, according to their virtual chat assistant. Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon includes at least five vegetarian recipes every week. You’ll also pay more in shipping with HomeChef. There is a $9.99 shipping fee for orders with three or more meals, and a $13.99 fee for orders with a subtotal under $50. Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon charges a flat shipping fee of $8.99 per shipment.
Home Chef does offer a line of prepared meals that you simply heat and eat, which is territory Martha Stewary & Marley Spoon hasn’t yet ventured into. And, they offer more pantry items as well as breakfast, dessert and smoothie recipes, so if you’re looking for more recipe coverage through your day, it may be a better fit for you.
