Is DreamCloud a Good Mattress for Back, Stomach, or Side Sleepers?
Whether you’re a side sleeper, back sleeper or stomach sleeper, the DreamCloud’s individually pocketed coils and gel memory foam ensure that this mattress will adapt to your unique shape and provide pressure point relief.
Plus, unlike other hybrid or memory foam mattresses, DreamCloud includes special cooling technology that optimizes airflow and regulates temperature. The mattress includes a special heat-treated cotton pad that draws heat from your body when you’re too warm, and returns it to you if you get cold. Together, DreamCloud’s gel memory foam and coil layer also help minimize heat retention—the coils promote air flow throughout the mattress while the gel memory foam and cashmere cover help disperse body heat.
The DreamCloud is also great for couples thanks to its high-density foams and pocketed coils, which minimize motion transfer and reduce vibrations—keeping you blissfully snoozing away no matter how many bathroom trips your partner makes.
One thing to consider is that the DreamCloud only offers one firmness level and it’s a 6.5, which means it’s on the firmer side compared to other similar hybrid models. So those who prefer to really sink into their mattress, or who are lightweight (130 pounds or less) may find it a bit too firm. Luckily, DreamCloud’s risk-free trial will enable you to try out the mattress for an entire year to make that determination for yourself.
How It Works & Where to Buy DreamCloud Mattress
Shopping for a DreamCloud is a primarily online experience, although you can check out the mattress in-person at select brick-and-mortar retailers—BedMart and Mattress City have both carried the brand.
Ordering a DreamCloud Mattress
Purchasing your DreamCloud is a simple and hassle-free process—you can order online or call. There’s even a live chat feature that lets you connect directly with a sleep expert who can guide you through the ordering process. We utilized the chat function multiple times for the sake of this review, and the response was always very fast and very thorough.
Bed in a Box Delivery
Once you place your order, you’ll typically wait two to five business days from the ship date to receive your mattress, although the exact delivery time will depend upon the mattress and size you select. The mattress will ship from a U.S. distribution center, and will likely arrive via FedEx Ground delivery.
DreamCloud Mattress Setup
Once your mattress arrives, setup is simple: Open the box and lay your mattress on a basic frame or box spring. Once you’ve set up your mattress, it will take about 72 hours to fully expand. Note: You can lay on your mattress sooner, it just won’t feel quite as cushy as it will when it’s fully expanded.
One consideration to keep in mind: Because of its high-density foams and durable, multi-layer construction, the DreamCloud is a heavier mattress than most. The Twin XL weighs in at 67 pounds, while the California King is 123 pounds. This can make setup somewhat challenging if you’re unboxing your mattress solo. DreamCloud does offer White Glove Service, which includes new mattress setup and removal of your old mattress if you’d like, but it will cost you—$199, to be exact.
DreamCloud Mattress Materials & Design
Featuring six luxe layers of premium materials and reinforced edge support, the DreamCloud hybrid mattress combines the cushy, cradle-like feel of memory foam with the durability, support and “bounce back” of an innerspring. So you’ll feel like you’re sleeping on a cloud, and wake up with a little more spring in your step.
The Top
DreamCloud sets the tone for a restful night of sleep with a plush, cashmere blend cover and pillowy-soft Euro Top with high-loft memory foam for added cushion and breathability.
The Middle
Inside the DreamCloud is a high-density gel memory foam Comfort Layer specifically designed to cradle the contours of your body and quickly relieve pressure points—so you can drift off to dreamland almost as soon as your head hits the pillow.
Next up is the “Sink-in-Just-Right” foam layer, which is largely what gives DreamCloud its name—this layer gives the mattress its cloud-like feel. This layer also helps minimize motion transfer, which is critical if you sleep with a partner who tends to toss and turn at night.
Rounding out the middle is a layer of heavy duty, pocketed coils, which optimize air flow and help isolate movement. This layer includes higher-gauge coils at the perimeter for reinforced edge support, which helps minimize roll-off, optimize ventilation, prevent sagging and make it easier to get in and out of bed.
The Bottom
At the base of the DreamCloud is a porous foam layer engineered to maximize airflow and reduce vibrations caused by the coil unit while also keeping the layers above it stable and operating at peak performance.
